Out of the soil of old dead matter and compost, wrenching upward and arching through the leaves of late summer the Vine gives forth life. Fruit cascades down from this vine against a backdrop of harvest colours. There is nothing more vibrant than the colours, sounds and smells of harvest, nothing more immediate than the fruit ready to be celebrated. The glory is in the fruit, but all its life and character come from the vine. Jesus said that we must be connected to him to bear fruit and that He is our vine. You see the glory of the harvest fruit first. It may take a while to notice Jesus in the vine.
