Dance of the Harvest
Dance of the Harvest

Acrylic 24" x 36"   Luke 10:2

During a time of worship I was painting and was aware of the harvest imagery in the music. I painted the heat of the day and the ripe harvest. As the music continued and changed there was more urgency. The sky reflects the urgency with the sun low on the horizon. Then I added the buildings as shadows in the harvest field. This makes the harvest imagery become more tangible, less romantic. I noticed some young women began dancing during the worship. They added to the urgency as they leaped and twirled. I painted them in the middle of the harvest. Ribbons stream about them cutting precise arcs in the air around them. It hints at the swing of the sicle or scythe in the harvest. The harvest is here.
